秦始皇三十四年。丞相李斯請以詩書百家語雜燒之有偶語詩書者棄市。三十五年以諸生誹謗。自除犯禁者四百六十人。阬之咸陽。

In the thirty-fourth year of the First Emperor of Qin, Chancellor Li Si requested that the Odes, the Documents, and the discourses of the Hundred Schools be indiscriminately burned, and that anyone speaking privately about the Odes and Documents be executed in the marketplace. In the thirty-fifth year, because the scholars spoke in slander, the Emperor personally purged four hundred and sixty men who violated the prohibitions and buried them alive in Xianyang.
