54.27

漢桓帝延熹八年。宦官告司隷校尉李膺交結生徒。詔捕黨人。辭及二百餘人。皆天下名賢。久之赦黨人禁錮終身。

In the eighth year of the Yanxi era of Emperor Huan of the Han, the eunuchs accused Li Ying, the Director of Retainers, of associating with students; an imperial edict was issued to arrest the partisans, and the accusations implicated over two hundred men, all of them eminent and worthy figures of the realm. After a long period, the partisans were pardoned but subjected to lifetime disqualification from office.
