北魏太武太平真君七年。帝信司徒崔浩說。案誅天下沙門。焚毀經像。後崔浩以罪腰斬族誅。帝為常侍宗愛所弑。文成即位。大復佛法。

In the seventh year of the Taiping Zhenjun era of Emperor Taiwu of the Northern Wei, the Emperor trusted the words of Minister over the Masses Cui Hao and investigated and executed monks throughout the realm, burning scriptures and statues. Later, Cui Hao was executed by waist-cutting and his clan was exterminated for his crimes; the Emperor was assassinated by the Regular Attendant Zong Ai. When Emperor Wencheng ascended the throne, he greatly restored the Buddhadharma.
