The Nine Rivers: Gejin and Tuhai are in present-day Ying Prefecture; Goupan, Taishi, and Husu are in present-day Cang Prefecture; Majia is in present-day Ji Prefecture; Fufu and Jianjie are obscure and unverifiable, but should lie between Dongguang, Chengping, and Ge County. Examining them according to the words of Xu Shang of the Han, Tuhai is the northernmost and Gejin is the southernmost. Tuhai was likely the original course of the River; flowing eastward it divided into eight. Xiaobai of Qi dammed them into one. Present-day areas east of Gonggao in Hejian, and Gejin in Pingyuan, often preserve their remains; this was probably damming its eight branches and consolidating them back into Tuhai (*Jiuyu zhi*).
