釋迦牟尼佛（賢劫第四尊）偈曰。法本法無法。無法法亦法。今付無法時。法法何曾法。姓剎利。父淨飯天。母大清淨。居舍衛城。坐菩提樹下說法。一會弟子一千二百五十人。度人無數。神足二。一舍利弗二目犍連。侍者阿難。子羅睺羅。

Śākyamuni Buddha (the fourth Honoured One of the Fortunate Kalpa), his verse states:
“Dharmas are fundamentally dharmas of no-dharma;
The no-dharma dharma is also a dharma.
Now that I transmit this no-dharma,
How has dharma after dharma ever been a dharma?”
His caste was kṣatriya. His father was the god Śuddhodana, and his mother was Mahāmāyā. He resided in the city of Śrāvastī. He sat beneath the bodhi tree to preach the Dharma. In one assembly, there were 1,250 disciples, and he liberated countless people. He had two foremost disciples endowed with miraculous powers: the first was Śāriputra, and the second was Maudgalyāyana. His attendant was Ānanda, and his son was Rāhula.
