小乙子。居喪三年不言。夢上帝賚以良弼。乃圖其形求於天下。得傅說於版築之間。命以為相。政事修舉三年。蠻夷編髮重譯來朝者六國。自是章服多用翟羽。鬼方無道。武丁伐之。三年乃克。殷道復興。號為高宗。在位五十九年。

Son of Xiao Yi. He observed mourning for three years without speaking. He dreamed that the High Sovereign granted him a fine assistant; thereupon he drew his likeness and sought him throughout all under Heaven, finding Fu Yue among the pounded-earth laborers. He appointed him chancellor. Government affairs were cultivated and raised up for three years. Six states of barbarians with braided hair came to court through multiple interpreters. From this time, official dress often made use of pheasant feathers. Guifang was without principle, and Wu Ding attacked it, overcoming it only after three years. The Way of the Yin revived, and he was titled Gaozong. He was on the throne for fifty-nine years.
