魏丁未年。憑太后還政。魏主始親國事。改元勤於為治。賞罰嚴明。拔清節黜貪污。魏國稱治。於長安北臺起永寧寺。塔七級高。三十丈。又於天宮寺作佛像。四十三尺。用銅七萬斤黃金六百斤（北史帝紀）。

In the dingwei year of Northern Wei, Empress Dowager Feng returned the governance, and the Sovereign of Wei began to attend to state affairs personally. He changed the reign era and was diligent in governance; rewards and punishments were strict and clear, promoting pure integrity and demoting the corrupt, so that the Northern Wei realm was praised for its good governance. At the Northern Terrace of Chang'an, he erected Yongning Monastery, with a seven-tiered stūpa thirty zhang high. Furthermore, at Tiangong Monastery, he made a Buddha statue forty-three chi tall, using seventy thousand jin of bronze and six hundred jin of yellow gold (Imperial Annals of the History of the Northern Dynasties).
