法上法師　北齊世祖成帝湛。築壇於內。請上法師授歸戒。帝布髮於地。令法師踐其髮而陞座。帝受戒畢。次授八座重臣后妃戚屬菩薩戒法。剏報德寺以居法師。諺曰。四海僧望道場法上（寺記碑銘）。

Dharma Master Fashang: Emperor Shizu, Chengdi (Zhan) of the Northern Qi, constructed an altar in the inner palace and invited Dharma Master Shang to bestow the refuges and precepts. The Emperor spread his hair upon the ground and had the Dharma master step upon his hair to ascend the seat. When the Emperor finished receiving the precepts, [the master] next conferred the bodhisattva precept Dharma upon the high ministers of the Eight Ministries, the empress and imperial consorts, and imperial relatives. He founded the Baode Monastery for the Dharma master to reside in. A proverb said: "The hope of the monks of the four seas; Fashang of the bodhimaṇḍa" (Monastery Records and Stele Inscriptions).
