乙酉武德八年二月。帝釋奠於國學。置三座擬敘三宗。召三教學者雲集。釋慧乘高張義網辯論。王臣悅服。舉朝屬目。

Yiyou, the eighth year of Wude [625 CE], in the second month. The Emperor performed the libation sacrifice at the National University. He set up three seats, intending to rank the three lineages. He summoned scholars of the three teachings to gather like clouds. Śākya Huicheng loftily unfolded the web of meaning and debated, so that the prince and ministers joyfully submitted, and the entire court fixed their eyes upon him.
