諱敬瑭。石姓。本西夷人。勇力善戰。唐明宗愛之。妻以女永寧公主。累遷至河東節度使。清泰元年鎮太原。徙天平節度使不受命。遂乃稱兵求援於契丹。即帝位入洛陽。割幽薊瀛莫涿檀順新溈儒武雲應寰朔蔚十六州以與契丹。在位七年。壽五十一　天福（七）丙申十一月改天福元年　契丹天顯十年。

His taboo name was Jingtang. His surname was Shi. He was originally a Western Barbarian, brave, strong, and skilled in battle. Tang Mingzong favored him, giving him his daughter, Princess Yongning, as wife. Through successive promotions he reached military commissioner of Hedong. In the first year of Qingtai, he governed Taiyuan; reassigned as military commissioner of Tianping, he refused to accept the order. He thereupon raised troops and sought aid from the Qidan, ascended the imperial throne, and entered Luoyang. He ceded the sixteen prefectures of You, Ji, Ying, Mo, Zhuo, Tan, Shun, Xin, Gui, Ru, Wu, Yun, Ying, Huan, Shuo, and Wei to the Qidan. He was on the throne for seven years and lived to the age of fifty-one. In the bingzhen year (the seventh [error for third] year of [Qingtai]), in the eleventh month, the reign era was changed to the first year of Tianfu; the tenth year of the Qidan Tianxian reign.
