譯經院朝散大夫試鴻臚卿光梵大師惟淨見執政裁省譯經之務。預自奏疏乞罷。帝曰。三聖崇奉朕而敢罷。且琛貢所籍名件皆異域文字。非鴻臚誰識不允。未幾御史中丞孔道輔等果乞罷譯館。帝出淨疏示之。道輔之論遂止（湘山錄）。

At the Scripture Translation Institute, Weijing, Grand Master for Closing Court, Probationary Director of the Court of State Ceremonial, and Great Master of Luminous Brahma, seeing the ministers in charge cutting back and reducing the affairs of translating scriptures, submitted a memorial in advance requesting his own retirement. The Emperor said, “The Three Sages revered this; how could I dare abolish it? Moreover, the items recorded in precious tributes are all written in foreign scripts; who but the Court of State Ceremonial could recognize them?” He did not grant permission. Shortly thereafter, Palace Censor-in-Chief Kong Daofu and others indeed requested the closure of the translation institute. The Emperor brought out Jing’s memorial to show them, and Daofu’s proposal was thereupon dropped (Xiangshan lu).
