歐陽公修宋公祁修唐書成。修又撰五代史七十四卷。洪邁容齋三筆曰。舊唐書五代史二書。關佛氏處。新書史刪盡矣。

Lord Ouyang Xiu and Lord Song Qi completed the compilation of the *Book of Tang*. Xiu also compiled the *History of the Five Dynasties* in seventy-four rolls. Hong Mai's *Rongzhai sanbi* says: "In the two works—the *Old Book of Tang* and the *[Old] History of the Five Dynasties*—places concerning the Buddha were completely excised in the new history books."
