"The divine turtle emerged from the Luo": this is present-day Mengjin in Mengzhou of Huaimeng Circuit, in the Shanxi-Hedong Circuit, which is the Mengjin where King Wu of Zhou gathered his forces when subjugating Zhou of Shang, in the region of Ji. The state of the Tushan clan was in present-day Linhao Prefecture of Anfeng Circuit in Huaxi. Kuaiji is present-day Shaoxing Circuit in Yuezhou of Zhedong Circuit, both belonging to the region of Yang. Yu passed away at Kuaiji. Sledges (qiao): Meng Kang says they are shaped like winnowing baskets and travel over mud. Spiked shoes (ju): made of iron, like awl points half an inch long, attached to the underside of shoes so one does not slip when climbing mountains.
