The Śūraṅgama-sūtra. The Indian śramaṇa Paramiti (here translated as 'Supreme Measure') arrived in Guangzhou in this year and resided at the Zhizhi Bodhimaṇḍa. In the fifth month, from within the Abhiṣeka Section he recited out one chapter, named the Śūraṅgama-sūtra. Meghasikha (here translated as 'Cloud Peak') translated it into one work in ten fascicles. Chief Minister Fang Rong recorded it in writing; Rong was demoted and exiled to Gaozhou at the time, and was thus able to lodge at the translation site. Śramaṇa Huaidi verified the translation. When the work of transmitting the scripture was finished, the court reprimanded him for unauthorized translation; Paramiti then boarded a ship carrying the Sanskrit birchbark leaves and returned to India (from the Translation Record). In the bingwu year, the second year of Shenlong, Sengfan and others were granted fifth-rank status (Old Book of Tang).
