天岸法師　諱弘濟。字同舟。天岸其號也。會稽姚氏子。從寶積寺舜田滿公出家。授法華經輒能記憶。既為大僧精持律學。深究教乘修懺懇切。於觀定中見一尊者。授以犀角如意。自是辨博無礙。開法於萬壽圓覺寺。呪沙擲地。以救海岸之崩。後主顯慈集慶二寺。遷主會稽圓通。修念佛三昧。詔住大普福寺。歸清鏡閣。是年歿（僧傳）。

Dharma Master Tian'an: taboo name Hongji, courtesy name Tongzhou; Tian'an was his style. He was a son of the Yao family of Kuaiji. He renounced household life under Master Mandeng of Shuntian at Baoji Monastery. When taught the Lotus Sūtra, he could immediately remember it. After becoming a fully ordained monk, he observed the Vinaya with pure precision, investigated the doctrinal vehicles deeply, and cultivated repentance with utmost sincerity. In a state of meditative contemplation, he saw a venerable one hand him a rhinoceros-horn ruyi sceptre. From then on, his eloquence was vast and unhindered. He opened the Dharma at Wanshou Yuanjue Monastery. He incanted sand and threw it on the ground to halt the collapse of the sea-wall. Later, he served as abbot of Xianci and Jiqing monasteries, then moved to Yuantong in Kuaiji, cultivating the samādhi of recollecting the Buddha. By imperial decree he resided at Dapufo Monastery, and then retired to the Qingjing Pavilion. He passed away in this year (Biographies of Monks).
