The Emperor printed one thousand sets of the Bodhisattva Precepts manual, circulating and distributing them so that all living beings of the great earth would universally uphold the precious precepts of the Tathāgata. The Emperor ordered that eminent monks of all routes be bestowed red and yellow grand robes and transmit the great precepts. Taking Qingliang as the realm of the true Buddha, the Emperor established five great monasteries as the supreme fields of merit. On each vegetarian-fast day, using a Buddhist bowl from South India, the Emperor would lay out the hundred delicacies and exquisite foods, clarifying his mind, contemplating, and broadly cultivating offerings.
