1.86

帝以天下寺院田產二稅。盡行蠲免。普令緇侶安心辦道　天下寺院山林樹木。遍諭玉音嚴加護持。毋令斫伐。以嚴佛聖境界。

The Emperor completely remitted the two taxes on monastic landholdings throughout the realm, universally allowing the black-robed sangha to pacify their minds and cultivate the Way. An imperial rescript was promulgated everywhere strictly ordering that the mountains, forests, and trees of monasteries throughout the realm be preserved, and that none be felled, so as to adorn the realm of the Buddhas and sages.
