2.103

一各處寺觀住持。從本處僧道衙門舉保。有戒行老成。諳通經典者。申送本管衙門。轉申僧錄司道錄司。考試中式具申禮部奏聞。

First: Abbots of monasteries and cloisters in all places shall be recommended and guaranteed by the local Buddhist or Daoist offices. Those mature in precepts and practice and well-versed in the scriptures shall be sent up to the governing office, and forwarded to the Central Buddhist Registry or Central Daoist Registry; if they pass the examination, a memorial will be submitted to the Ministry of Rites to report to the throne.
