章溢有文武才。蒞官所至有成績。天性孝友撫世訓物。一本於誠。每論大事。議論不避權勢。必折衷於理。官至御史中丞。至是卒。諭祭之。

Zhang Yi had talent in both civil and military affairs. Wherever he went in governing, he achieved meritorious results. By nature he was filial and fraternal, pacifying the world and instructing beings entirely out of sincerity. Whenever discussing great matters, his discourse did not avoid the powerful and influential, always finding the proper mean based on principle. He reached the position of Censor-in-Chief. At this point he died, and imperial funeral offerings were decreed for him.
