李卓吾。諱贄。官至刺史。掛冠祝髮住持龍湖。率眾焚修。為人豪爽英敏。著述頗多。有華嚴合論簡要。及焚書幾卷。多論佛法性理等學。

Li Zhuowu: Taboo name Zhi. He served in office up to the rank of prefect. Hanging up his cap and tonsuring his hair, he became the abbot of Longhu, leading the assembly in burning incense and cultivating. By nature bold, unrestrained, brilliant, and keen, he authored many writings, including the *Huayan helun jianyao* (Abridgment of the Combined Commentaries on the Avataṃsaka) and several fascicles of the *Fenshu* (A Book to Burn), which extensively discussed Buddhist teaching, the nature and principle, and other studies.
