菩薩婦家姓瞿曇氏。舍夷長者名水光。其婦名月女。有一城居近其邊。生女之時日將欲沒。餘明照其家室內皆明。因字之為瞿夷（瞿夷晉言明女）。瞿夷是太子第一夫人（出十二遊經）。

The family of the Bodhisattva's wife had the surname Gautama. The elder of Śākiya was named Shuiguang, and his wife was named Yuenü. There was a city situated close beside them. When she gave birth to the daughter, the sun was about to set, and the lingering radiance illuminated her house, filling the interior with brightness; thus she was named Gopā (Gopā is translated in Jin as 'Bright Woman'). Gopā was the crown prince's first consort (from the Shi'er you jing).
