爾時菩薩語天子言。此偈乃是過去諸佛之所宣說。諸行性相法皆如是。汝等今日勿生憂惱。我於生死無量劫來。今日唯有此一生在。不久當得離於諸行。汝等當知今是度脫眾生之時。我應下生閻浮提中。迦毘羅施兜國。甘蔗苗裔釋姓種族白淨王家。我生彼已。遠離父母棄捨妻子。及轉輪王位。出家學道勤修苦行。降伏魔怨。成一切種智。轉於法輪。一切世間天人魔梵所不能轉。亦依過去諸佛所行法式。廣利一切諸天人眾。建大法幢傾倒魔幢。竭煩惱海淨八正路。以諸法印印眾生心。設大法會請諸天人。汝等爾時亦當皆同在於此會。餐受法食。以是因緣不應憂惱。爾時菩薩以偈頌曰。

At that time, the bodhisattva spoke to the devaputras, saying: 'This verse was proclaimed by the Buddhas of the past. The nature and characteristics of all conditioned phenomena are all like this. Today you must not give rise to distress. Throughout immeasurable kalpas in birth and death, today I have only this one life remaining; before long I shall be freed from all conditioned phenomena. You should know that now is the time to deliver sentient beings. I ought to descend and be born in Jambudvīpa, in the country of Kapilavastu, in the house of King Śuddhodana of the Śākya clan, scion of Ikṣvāku. After I am born there, I shall leave behind my parents, abandon wife and child, and forsake the rank of wheel-turning sage king. I shall leave home to train in the Path, diligently cultivate ascetic practices, subdue the hordes of Māra, attain sarvākārajñatā, and turn the wheel of the Dharma, which cannot be turned by any devas, humans, Māras, or Brahmās in all the world. In accordance with the model and practice observed by the Buddhas of the past, I shall broadly benefit all the hosts of devas and humans, erect the great banner of the Dharma and overturn the banner of Māra, dry up the ocean of afflictions and purify the eightfold noble path, seal the minds of sentient beings with the seals of the Dharma, and set up a great Dharma assembly, inviting all devas and humans. At that time, you too shall all be together in this assembly, partaking of the food of the Dharma. For this reason, you should not be distressed.' At that time, the bodhisattva recited in verse:
