祐觀。十二遊經。不稱我聞。復無佛言。蓋是羅漢注記之說也。尋瞿曇氏族。乃緣起宿世。越至賢劫。還即本姓業因。深遠不可思議也。其所述轉輪。略而不同世數之緒。難得推挍。然瞿曇姓源。頗為詳悉。故撰之云。

Sengyou observes: The Shier you jing does not say "Thus have I heard," nor does it contain the words of the Buddha; it is probably an account compiled by arhats. Tracing the Gautama clan, its origin lies in past lives, extending down to the Bhadrakalpa, where he returned to his original surname. The karmic causes are profound and inconceivable. Its description of the wheel-turners is brief and differs in the sequence of generations, making it difficult to verify. However, the origin of the Gautama surname is quite detailed, which is why I have compiled it.
