The Guanfo sanmei jing says: Māra had three daughters; the eldest was named Yuebi, the middle one was named Xixin, and the youngest was named Duomei. They addressed their father, saying, 'We can go and confound him; please do not worry, father.' Thereupon they adorned themselves, surpassing the queen of Māra by a hundred, thousand, ten thousand times. Glancing seductively and striking poses, they displayed all manner of bewitching charms. They paid homage to the Bodhisattva, circumambulated him seven times, and addressed the Bodhisattva, saying, 'When you, Crown Prince, were born, myriad spirits attended you. Why do you cast aside your heavenly throne and come beneath this tree? We are heavenly maidens, unmatched across the six heavens. Now we offer our humble bodies to you, Crown Prince. We are skilled at massaging and soothing the body, and now wish to draw near you. Sitting beneath this tree your body is weary, and you should rest and consume amṛta.' Then, in precious vessels, they offered him a hundred heavenly delicacies. The Crown Prince remained silent and still, unmoved in body and mind. Pointing at them with his white ūrṇā hair, he caused the three heavenly daughters to see their own bodies' flesh as bags of pus, mucus, and spittle from the nine apertures, the primal internal organs and digested organs twisting and churning, swarming with worms in eight thousand families, which ran into the small intestines with open mouths turned upward, gnawing away at all the organs. Worms finer than an autumn down sprouted in the marrow and vessels, exceedingly numerous. Seeing this, the women at once vomited. Then they saw their own bodies sprouting a snake's head on the left, a fox's head on the right, and a dog's head in the middle, carrying an old crone on their backs and embracing a dead infant. The women shrieked in horror and retreated backward. Lowering their heads to look at their navels, they saw their female forms to be hideous and filthy, with more worms in the shape of bracelets tightly wound together, possessing numerous mouths that each produced the five poisons, gnawing at their female organs. Having seen this, the women felt extreme bitterness in their hearts, as if arrows had pierced their breasts; they crawled away, weeping and sighing, until they reached Māra the King. Māra's malice grew all the fiercer, and he summoned the eighteen hundred million beings of his four divisions, who transformed into the shapes of lions, bears, brown bears, and apes, or with the heads of bugs and bodies of men, or serpents' bodies, carrying mountains and vomiting fire, surrounded by lightning and thunder, brandishing spears and halberds. The Bodhisattva, through his compassionate mind, did not move a single hair; his radiant visage grew all the more magnificent, and the demon soldiers were unable to draw near.
