2.19

祐竊惟大聖垂經抑揚懲勸。夫以正覺之尊萬累久絕。累塵劫而甫示餘報。明知釋種之滅。非力能免。斯實止殺之深戒慎業之明規也。

Sengyou humbly reflects: The Great Sage promulgated the scriptures, praising and censuring, chastening and exhorting. Indeed, the exaltedness of the Rightly Awakened One has long been severed from all entanglements; yet across dust-mote kalpas, he has only now displayed his residual retribution. From this it is clearly known that the destruction of the Śākya clan could not be averted by force. This is truly a profound warning against killing, and a clear model for caution in one's deeds.
