觀佛三昧云。優填鑄金為像佛從天下。戴像來迎為佛作禮。佛言汝於來世大作佛事。我諸弟子咸付囑汝。空中化佛言。若有造佛形像供養。必得念佛清淨三昧。

The Guanfo sanmei [jing] says: Udayana cast gold to make an image. When the Buddha descended from heaven, carrying the image he came to welcome him and pay homage to the Buddha. The Buddha said: 'In future ages you will greatly perform Buddha-work; my disciples are all entrusted to you.' An emanation Buddha in the air said: 'If anyone makes an image of the Buddha and makes offerings to it, they will surely attain the pure samādhi of mindfulness of the Buddha.'
