Having arrived in Pengcheng, he met a layman named Huang Xin, who had deep faith in the Buddhadharma; upon seeing Beidu, he bowed and invited him to his home. His family was extremely poor, having only barley rice. Beidu ate it happily and with contentment. After staying for only half a year, he suddenly said to Xin, "You should find thirty-six reed baskets; I have use for them." Xin replied, "Here we can find at most ten; being poor, I have no way to buy them, so I fear they cannot all be provided." Beidu said, "Just search for them; they should be in the house." Xin immediately searched thoroughly, and indeed obtained thirty-six baskets, lining them up in the courtyard. Although they had the number, many were broken and ruined. By the time Xin looked closely at them one by one, they were all newly complete. Beidu sealed them tightly, and then told Xin to open them; Xin then saw they were all filled with coins and silks, worth about a million cash. Those who understood said that Beidu had divided his body into other lands, and the donations he received were redirected to give to Xin, which Xin received and used entirely to generate merit. After about a year, Beidu took his leave to depart. Xin prepared provisions for him. The next morning, he saw the provisions were all intact, and did not know where Beidu had gone.
