時南州杯度當其騎欄之日，爾日早出，至晚不還。陳氏明旦見門扇上有青書六字云：「福德門，靈人降。」字劣可識，其家杯度遂絕迹矣。

On the day when he straddled the railing, the Beidu in Nanzhou had gone out early that morning and did not return by evening. The next morning, the Chen family saw six characters written in green on the door leaves: 'Gate of blessing and virtue; a transcendent being descends.' The characters were barely legible, and the Beidu of their household thereupon vanished without a trace.
