Later, on a day of severe cold and snow, a woman came seeking a place to stay the night. Her appearance was fair and proper, her clothes fresh and bright, and her charm gentle and elegant. She claimed to be a heavenly maiden, saying: "Because the venerable master possesses virtue, Heaven has sent me to comfort and encourage you." She spoke words of desire, seeking to stir his mind. Huiwei held firmly to his resolve with absolute integrity, his mind undisturbed. He then said to the woman: "My mind is like dead ashes; do not test me with a bag of skin." The woman then soared into the clouds and departed, looking back and sighing: "The waters of the sea may dry up, / Mount Sumeru may tumble down, / Yet that venerable master / Holds firmly to his resolve." Later, in the third year of the Long'an reign of the Jin, he traveled with Faxian to the Western Regions, and his final end is unknown.
