時有慧寶、道詮，雖非同時，作法相似。甚豐聲而高調，製用無取焉。宋明忽賞道詮，議者謂逢時也。

At that time there were Huibao and Daoquan; though not contemporaries, their techniques were similar. Their voices were remarkably rich and of high register, yet their composition and application were of no merit. Emperor Ming of Song suddenly praised Daoquan, but critics deemed it merely a matter of meeting with good fortune.
