Shao was originally a native of Baxi. When Zhou Yong of Runan left Chengdu, he invited Shao to travel down together with him, and Shao took up residence at the Shanci Hermitage. Both Fadu and Shao were treated with the respect due to teachers by Xiao Ziliang, King of Jingling, and Xiao Yaoguang, King of Shi'an, under the Southern Qi, who supplied them with the four requisites. Fadu always vowed to be reborn in the Land of Peace and Sustenance (Sukhāvatī), and therefore specialized in lecturing on the Sukhāvatīvyūha-sūtra, repeating it countless times. He passed away in the mountains in the second year of the Yongyuan reign period of the Southern Qi, at the age of sixty-four.
