慧以母年老，欲存資奉，迺移憩莊嚴寺。母憐其志，復出家為道，捨宅為福，建精舍。慧以齊建元三年卒，春秋三十有一。臨終呼取麈尾授友人智順。順慟曰：「如此之人，年不至四十，惜矣。」因以麈尾內棺中而斂焉。葬於鍾山之陽。陳郡謝超宗為造碑文。

Because his mother was aged and he wished to support and care for her, Daohui moved to reside at Zhuangyan Temple. His mother was moved by his aspirations and also entered the religious life, renouncing her residence to create merit by founding an abode. Daohui died in the third year of the Jianyuan era of the Qi dynasty at the age of thirty-one. Approaching the end, he called for his chowry and handed it to his friend Zhishun. Shun wept bitterly and said: "That such a man has not reached forty—how regrettable!" He then placed the chowry inside the coffin and performed the encoffining. Daohui was buried on the south of Mount Zhong. Xie Chaozong of Chen commandery composed his stele inscription.
