Later, the General Who Pacifies the West, Yu Zhigong, was garrisoned at Xiangyang. Having never revered the Dharma, and hearing of Hui's extraordinary deeds, he was deeply envious of him. Hui foresaw this and informed his disciples, saying: "My past retribution will soon arrive; I admonish and urge my companions to diligently cultivate merit and goodness." Two days later, he was indeed arrested and executed at the age of fifty-eight. Facing death, he said to the crowd: "Three days after my death, there will be a torrential rain from the heavens." When the time came, rain poured down in a deluge; the water at the city gate reached ten feet deep, residents were washed away, and many died.
