Buddhayasas (Fotuoshe), here translated as Jueshou, was a native of Jibin. In his youth, he received instruction from the monks of the Mahīśāsaka school, specializing in the vinaya sections and also mastering the essentials of dhyāna. In the seventh month of the first year of the Jingping era of the Song, he arrived in Yangzhou. Previously, the śramaṇa Faxian had obtained the Sanskrit text of the Mahīśāsaka-vinaya in the Lion Kingdom, but before it was translated, Faxian passed away. The monks of the capital, hearing that [Buddha]she was well-versed in this study, invited him to produce it. In the eleventh month of the winter of that year, they gathered at Longguang Temple and translated it into thirty-four fascicles, known as the Wufen lü (Five-Part Vinaya). [Buddha]she held the Sanskrit text, the Khotanese śramaṇa Zhisheng translated it, and Daosheng of Longguang and Huiyan of Dong'an jointly took up the brush to review and correct it, with Wang Lian of Langye, the Song Attendant-in-Ordinary, acting as the dānapati; it was completed in the fourth month of the following year. They then extracted the prātimokṣa and karmavācanā texts from the large corpus, which circulated together in the world. Where [Buddha]she ended his life is unknown.
