Later, Huiyi of Jetavana Monastery invited him to translate the Bodhisattva-bhadra-śīla. He had only completed twenty-eight chapters when a disciple later translated two chapters in his stead, making thirty chapters; before they could be transcribed, the introductory chapter and the precepts chapter were lost, so today there are still two editions, sometimes called the Bodhisattva-śīla-bhūmi. Previously, in the third year of Yuanjia (426 CE), Wang Zhongde, Regional Inspector of Xuzhou, invited the foreigner Īśvara in Pengcheng to translate the Samyuktābhidharmahṛdaya; having reached the chapter on selection (Pravicaya), conditions hindered it, and it was suspended. At this time, Guṇavarman was further requested to translate the subsequent chapters, completing it into thirteen fascicles. Together with the previously translated Dharmaguptaka-karman, Brief Treatise on the Five Precepts for Upāsakas, Twenty-two Precepts for Upāsakas, and others, there were twenty-six fascicles in all, both the text and meaning being thorough and fitting, with no discrepancies between Sanskrit and Chinese.
