Facheng later went west to Dunhuang, founded a monastery, invited students, forgot his own body for the sake of the Way, and taught without growing weary. Causing those ferocious as wolves to reform their hearts and the barbarian tribes to understand propriety, the great transformation moving westward was indeed the achievement of Facheng. Later he died at his dwelling place. Sun Chuo's Daoxian lun (Treatise on Monks and Worthies) compared Facheng to Wang Junchong, the treatise stating: "Facheng and [Wang Rong of] Anfeng in their youth possessed insight into subtle opportunities; although the religious and secular follow different courses, their paths may be measured against each other." The lofty scholar Ji Yong composed a eulogy and biography for him.
