Sengyin's observance of the precepts was pure and rigorous; his disposition was harmonious and mild; he was tolerant and forbearing, showing neither joy nor anger. When aggressive individuals among his questioners occasionally introduced mockeries during debates, Sengyin remained serene in bearing, completely free from external distraction. Although his learning encompassed numerous scriptures, he was especially famous for the Saddharmapuṇḍarīka, which he lectured on a total of two hundred and fifty-two times. He passed away in the first year of the Yongyuan reign period of the Southern Qi, at the age of sixty-five.
