In the xinhai year, the second year of the Jingyun era [711], he translated scriptures such as the Divine Spell Praising the Merits of the Tathāgata again at the Great Jianfu Temple, with Chamberlain for Ceremonials Xue Chongsi supervising. From the Empress Dowager's Jiushi era down to Ruizong's Jingyun era, he translated a total of fifty-six works in two hundred and thirty fascicles. He also independently composed the Great Tang Record of Eminent Monks Who Sought the Dharma in the Western Regions, the Record of Buddhism Sent Home from the Southern Seas, the Essential Rules for Special Confession of Transgressions, the Essential Rules for the Use of the Three Types of Pure Water, and the Ritual Procedures for Protecting Life and Releasing Living Beings, making five works in nine fascicles. In addition, he produced the Sarvāstivāda Vastu, which correspond to the Khandhaka and Vagga of other vinayas—the difference being merely regional Sanskrit dialects—in about seventy-eight fascicles. Although Yijing translated across all three baskets of the canon, he concentrated especially on the vinaya section; during intervals between translating and editing, he meticulously instructed his disciples. In every affair he conducted, he prioritized vigilance and preservation. His use of the water-strainer and cleansing of impurities stood far out from the ordinary run. His students transmitted and practiced this throughout the capitals of Chang'an and Luoyang. How magnificent! This too was a grand event for the bequeathed Dharma.
