The appraisal says: A rigid corpse with feet crossed is uniform in practice; to die standing or sitting is through the cultivation of samādhi. But in this case, his head supported the heavy earth while his feet trod the azure heavens—reversing the constant principle, he was difficult to comprehend, truly an unfathomable person. Such an upside-down departure has happened to only one person in all antiquity! The nudging by his nun sister was like Qu Ping being scolded by his elder sister. The power of illusion-like action—how great is its skillful means! Someone asked, "Why is Yinfeng's flight of the staff to dissolve the battle array not recorded in the Tang History's account of the Huaixi campaign?" The Commentator says: "What is transmitted in minor records may well preserve the truth. For this reason, the single classic of the Spring and Autumn Annals has five commentaries—could they possibly be identical?"
