21.27

又漢州開化寺釋亡名，先因入寺，見瑞應交現，遂誓捨身，剋苦為期。忽於殿中焚香次，俄覩地屋皆為瑠璃色，有菩薩乘五色雲下庭中曰：「汝極堅至，必當得道，吾來證汝。」亡名叩頭禮拜，斯須不見。寺僧至云「學院內皆變瑠璃色。」歎嗟不已。其僧復勤節行焉。

Furthermore, there was an anonymous monk at Kaihua Temple in Hanzhou. Formerly, upon entering the temple, he saw auspicious signs manifest one after another; thereupon he vowed to renounce his body, setting a deadline for arduous austerities. Suddenly, as he was burning incense in the hall, he presently saw the ground and the building all turn the color of lapis lazuli. A bodhisattva riding a five-colored cloud descended into the courtyard and said, "You are exceedingly firm and devoted; you are bound to attain the Way. I have come to verify you." The anonymous monk prostrated with his forehead to the ground, and in a moment the bodhisattva vanished. The temple monks arrived and said, "The inside of the study hall has all turned the color of lapis lazuli!" They sighed with boundless admiration. The monk practiced his disciplined conduct with even greater diligence.
