21.31

系曰：上座始則爾之教矣，後則民胥効矣。曾不知果證之人，逆化於物，終作佛事，用警未萌。故若歸其實，乃《對法論》中「諸大威德菩薩示現食力住故」也。如有妄云得果，比例而行，則如何野干鳴擬學師子吼者乎？

The appraisal says: The Sthavira began by teaching them, and later the people all imitated him. Little did they know that a person of realized fruition transgressively transforms living beings to perform Buddha-work in the end, using it to warn against unripened faults. Therefore, if we return to the reality of the matter, it is what the Abhidharmasamuccaya calls "greatly majestic bodhisattvas demonstrating the dwelling of eating for strength." If someone falsely claims to have attained the fruit and acts by drawing a false comparison, how is that any different from a jackal's yapping trying to imitate the lion's roar?
