24.44

系曰：一念憶識自身稱佛名不少，垂入獄而還返者，以強善心而轉弱惡故。是故行人須知：口誦莫如心持往生，淺力當如是學也。俊語流出民間：必死者重蘇，傳此語也。

The commentary states: Recalling in a single thought that one had recited the Buddha's name not a few times, he was on the verge of entering hell yet turned back, because a strong mind of goodness transforms weak evil. Therefore, practitioners must know: reciting with the mouth is not as good as upholding rebirth with the mind; those of shallow capability should learn from this. Jun's words circulated among the common people; having definitely died, he revived again to transmit these words.
