29.18

泓曾誡燕公曰：「宅勿於西北隅取土。」後成坑，三二處為穴，泓驚謂燕公曰：「禍事！令公富貴一身耳。更二十年，禍及賢郎耳。」及均、垍受祿山偽官，肅宗復京，以減死論，太上皇苦執令處斬，皆符泓言然。中、睿朝皆崇重泓，號國師。占相之言，未甞差謬。

Hong once cautioned Duke Yan [Zhang Yue], saying: “Do not take earth from the northwest corner of your residence.” Later a pit formed, and hollows were made in two or three places. Hong said in alarm to Duke Yan: “A calamity! Your Lordship's wealth and honor will last only for your own single lifetime. In twenty more years, disaster will reach your worthy sons!” When [Zhang] Jun and [Zhang] Ji accepted illegitimate offices from An Lushan, and Suzong recovered the capital, they were judged to have their sentences commuted from death, but the Retired Emperor [Xuanzong] adamantly insisted on their execution. Everything turned out just as Hong had spoken. Both the courts of Zhongzong and Ruizong revered Hong and titled him National Preceptor. His prognostications and physiognomic readings never erred.
