Śubhakarasiṃha once cast a bronze pagoda in his cloister, shaping the mold with his own hands, with an exquisite craftsmanship surpassing humans and gods. Because the melting and working were on such a large scale and the courtyard was narrow and enclosed, the monastic assembly feared that if the wind blew and the fire raged, disaster would spread to the jewel sanctuary. Śubhakarasiṃha smiled and said: "Do not distress yourselves; you will see in due course." On the day the bellows were pumped and the casting took place, heavy snow indeed covered the sky. When the numinous pagoda emerged from the furnace, auspicious snowflakes drifted over the mats, and the assembly all praised him with exclamation.
