Old Huang of the Song dynasty was a native of Tanzhou. Originally in the military, he made a living by forging iron. Every time he wielded tongs and hammer, he practiced buddhamanasikāra without stopping his mouth. One day, without illness, he asked a neighbor to write down a hymn for him, saying: / 'Clang, clang, ding, dong! / Forged long, it becomes steel. / Great peace draws near; / I go to the Western Direction.' / He immediately passed away. His hymn was widely circulated in Hunan, and many people practiced buddhamanasikāra.
