3.26

贊曰。求生西方。為欲悟無生忍登不退地也。已得忍已得不退。而復求生。菩薩之樂近如來乃如此。今具縛凡夫。忍力未充。退緣無限。而不刻心淨土。謂之何哉。是則名為可憐憫者。

The appreciation says: Seeking rebirth in the Western Direction is for the sake of realizing the forbearance of non-arising and ascending to the stage of non-retrogression. Having already attained forbearance and having already attained non-retrogression, they still seek rebirth—such is a bodhisattva's joy in drawing near to the Tathāgata! Now, ordinary beings bound by defilements have not yet perfected the power of forbearance, and conditions for retrogression are limitless, yet they do not set their minds on the Pure Land—what can be said of them? Such are truly named 'those worthy of pity.'
