The above: the first bow says: 'Namo to the First Assembly, beneath the Bodhi tree upon the lion throne: Locana Buddha, extensively reaching throughout the ten directions and universally pervading the dharmadhātu; the ocean of the Dharma of profound fruition virtues preached by all Buddhas; and all the Three Jewels of Bodhisattva Mahāsattvas numerous as dust motes, such as Samantabhadra Bodhisattva.' The subsequent seven assemblies invoke the locations, names of the Dharma, and names of the bodhisattvas; apart from their specific distinctions, all are the same as above. The ninth bows to the Three Jewels in the medium version of the Avataṃsaka Sūtra in 498,800 gāthās. The tenth bows to the Three Jewels in the superior version of the Avataṃsaka Sūtra in gāthās numerous as the dust motes of ten great chiliocosms; both merely invoke the Buddhas, Dharma, Samantabhadra, and others preached in those sūtras, as can be understood.
