10.50

日子和尚亞谿來參。師作起勢。亞谿曰。遮老山鬼猶見某甲在。師曰。罪過罪過適來失秖對。亞谿欲進語。師乃叱之。亞谿曰。大陣前不妨難禦。師曰是是。亞谿曰。不是不是（趙州云。可憐兩箇漢。不識轉身句）。

When Upādhyāya Rizi of Yaxi came to visit, the master made a gesture of rising. Yaxi said: “This old mountain ghost still sees me.”
The master said: “My fault, my fault! Just now I failed to respond properly.”
Yaxi was about to speak further, but the master shouted at him. Yaxi said: “In the face of a great battle formation, it is indeed hard to defend.”
The master said: “Yes, yes.”
Yaxi said: “No, no.” (Zhaozhou said: “Pitiable are these two fellows, neither knows the turning-around phrase.”)
