福州長谿龜山正原禪師。宣州南陵人也。姓蔡氏。幼厭俗出家。於本州籍山落髮。唐元和十二年丁酉建州乾元寺受具。尋造五洩山默師之室決擇玄微。後住龜山為第二世也。師嘗述二偈。其一曰。

Chan Master Zhengyuan of Mount Gui in Changxi, Fuzhou, was a man of Nanling in Xuanzhou whose secular surname was Cai. In his youth, feeling weary of worldly life, he left home, having his head shaved at Jishan in his native prefecture. In the twelfth year of the Yuanhe era of the Tang (a dingyou year), he received full ordination at Qianyuan Temple in Jianzhou. Soon after, he visited the room of Master Mo of Mount Wuxie to resolve the profound and subtle. Later he resided at Mount Gui as the second generation. The master once composed two verses, the first of which said:
