Upādhyāya Shengguang of Taizhou. [A monk] asked, "What is the Upādhyāya's house style?" The Master said, "Lychees in Fuzhou, tiger's claw flowers in Quanzhou." [A monk] asked, "What are the two words 'Buddha Dharma'?" The Master said, "Speak right away." The monk said, "Please, Master, speak." The Master said, "The ear-pierced foreign monk nods his head with a smile." Upādhyāya Zhao of Longhua came. The Master grabbed hold of him and said, "What is it?" Zhao said, "Make no mistake." The Master then released his hand. Zhao said, "Long have I admired Shengguang." The Master remained silent. Zhao then took his leave. Seeing him off at the gate, the Master said, "Parting from here, where shall we meet?" Zhao went away laughing heartily.
